Earlobe correction Frankfurt: For beautiful, aesthetically shaped earlobes
Our earlobes usually lead a rather inconspicuous existence. However, this can change if, for example, they wear out or tear due to age or years of wearing large and heavy ear jewelry, are unusually shaped from birth or have a large hole due to wearing a tunnel piercing. Many of those affected find these changes unaesthetic and unpleasant and therefore wish to have their earlobes corrected.
As a specialist in plastic and aesthetic surgery , Dr. Nichlos has many years of experience in correcting ears in children and adults and will be happy to help you achieve an earlobe shape that you feel comfortable with. Why not arrange a no-obligation consultation at our practice in Frankfurt and find out more about the treatment options available to you.

Introduction
What is an earlobe correction?
An earlobe correction is a surgical procedure to restore or change the current shape of the earlobe. Such an operation is routinely performed by an experienced plastic and aesthetic surgeon such as Dr. Nichlos in his practice in Frankfurt.
What are the reasons for an earlobe correction?
Earlobes can have an unusual shape by nature or change their shape over time, for example as a result of age-related sagging of the skin, which also causes the earlobes to become flabbier and/or longer, or as a result of ear jewelry.
Heavy earrings can stretch the earlobe in the long term or sometimes even tear it. With so-called tunnel piercings, the hole in which the earrings are placed is deliberately widened considerably. Sometimes those affected no longer like this after a few years and wish to have their original, undamaged earlobes back.
Whether congenital asymmetry or malformation, age-related changes or the result of large ear jewelry: correction of the earlobes is usually always carried out for aesthetic reasons.
Methods
Earlobe correction: What methods are available?
Different techniques are available for earlobe and auricle corrections depending on the initial condition and desired result: Earlobes that are too large, drooping or sagging due to age can be surgically reduced by removing the excess tissue from the ear and carefully suturing the remaining tissue together.
Dr. Nichlos uses a simple suturing technique (direct closure) for children and adults with an ear hole that has been torn in or through, e.g. due to an accident, in which the edges of the tear in the ear are cleaned and the earlobe is sutured precisely. A wedge resection is necessary for very extensive or deformed ear holes. This involves removing a wedge-shaped piece of skin around the deformed hole and suturing the remaining skin.
To perform a tunnel correction or remove a large amount of excess skin, a more complex operation is required in which the tissue is repositioned and reshaped. In the case of extensive tunnels, the skin around the hole is tightened and reconstructed by Dr. Nichlos to restore the normal shape and size of the earlobes.

Preparation
What happens before earlobe surgery?
If you are interested in earlobe correction, it is best to arrange a personal consultation at our practice in Frankfurt. On site, Dr. Nichlos will ask you about your reasons and wishes in a calm atmosphere, examine your ears thoroughly, present the treatment options available to you and inform you about possible risks.
During the consultation, Dr. Nichlos can also give you more detailed information about the costs, as these always depend on the individual case. If you decide to have the procedure, we will arrange an appointment for earlobe correction.
Procedure
How does an earlobe correction work?
Dr. Nichlos performs earlobe correction in the state-of-the-art operating rooms at the Berger Klinik in Frankfurt. Once the anesthetic has been administered, he makes an incision in the affected area of the ear. He uses this to remove excess skin or carefully suture the tear or stretch. The experienced specialist in plastic and aesthetic surgery uses a fine suturing technique to ensure that no visible scars remain from the procedure.
The procedure is usually performed on an outpatient basis and under local anesthesia. You should allow between 30 and 45 minutes for the treatment.

Aftercare
What happens after earlobe correction?
Extensive aftercare is not usually necessary. However, make sure to cool your ears carefully after the treatment and keep the wound clean and avoid strenuous activities and sauna visits for the first few days.
Risks
What are the risks associated with earlobe correction?
Earlobe correction is a very low-risk procedure if performed professionally and in accordance with strict hygiene standards. Nevertheless, after earlobe or auricle correction, in individual cases there may be short-term swelling and/or slight bruising as well as pronounced scarring, which may require further surgery.

More InformationFrequently asked questions
about earlobe correction:
- Who is an earlobe correction suitable for?
Surgical correction of the earlobes is advisable in the case of torn, stretched or age-related sagging earlobes – often caused by heavy ear jewelry or piercings. Earlobes that are too large or too small can also be adjusted if a more harmonious proportion is desired.

- How long does an earlobe correction take?
Depending on the extent of the procedure, the treatment takes about 30 to 45 minutes per side. Please allow about an hour for correction on both sides.
- Is the procedure painful?
No, the procedure is usually performed under local anesthesia. There is no pain during the treatment. Mild wound pain after the procedure can be alleviated with common painkillers.
- How long does it take to heal?
Healing is usually complete after approx. 6 weeks. It may take a little longer for the scars to fade completely – depending on the individual skin type and healing process.

If you wish to continue using existing pierced ears, you should wait until they have completely healed. New piercings can be made after 3 to 6 months at the earliest – depending on the healing process. Dr. Nichlos will be happy to advise you personally.
- Are visible scars to be expected?
