Wrinkle treatment with hyaluronic acid
Unfortunately, there is (still) nothing that can be done medically about ageing, but it is possible to combat its side effects such as wrinkles. Treatment with botulinum toxin A offers a generally well-tolerated and gentle alternative to a facelift.
In his practice in Frankfurt, Dr. Nichlos uses the active ingredient better known under its trade name Botox to visually reduce age-related wrinkles and expression lines such as crow’s feet, marionette lines or frown lines and to help his patients’ faces look younger and smoother again.
In addition to wrinkle injections, the active ingredient can also be used for other complaints such as migraines, excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis) or teeth grinding (bruxism). Dr. Nichlos will be happy to discuss whether Botox treatment is the best solution for you in a personal consultation, which is of course completely non-binding for you. Botox is the best-known trade name for botulinum toxin type A and is often used as a synonym for this active ingredient. Botulinum toxin is a neurotoxin secreted by a bacterium called Clostridium botulinum.
In the body, the neurotoxin blocks the transmission of stimuli from nerves to muscles. Specifically, it inhibits the release of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine. This is responsible for muscle activity. Without acetylcholine, the muscle cannot contract, it is completely relaxed, but as if paralyzed. This effect is also used in medicine. Today, botulinum toxin is used in various medical fields.

Dr. Emmanouil Nichlos has specialized in Botox treatments for over 17 years and has extensive experience in minimally invasive wrinkle treatment. With precise dosing and a trained aesthetic eye, he ensures natural, fresh results without a mask-like effect.
Treatment with botulinum toxin / Botox is primarily known as a gentle, non-surgical option for treating facial wrinkles.
Wrinkle injections are suitable for smoothing so-called expression lines. Expression lines are wrinkles on the face that occur because the facial muscles that are necessary for our facial expressions are frequently moved. These include, for example, forehead wrinkles such as the vertical frown lines on the forehead, which are caused by frequent contraction of the eyebrows, but also horizontal forehead wrinkles, which are the result of frequent raising of the eyebrows. Other examples of expression lines that are suitable for wrinkle injections with Botox are lip wrinkles, crow’s feet and wrinkles on the chin.
Another area of application for botulinum toxin is excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis). By injecting the active ingredient into the affected areas (e.g. the armpits or palms), the release of acetylcholine and thus the activity of the sweat glands is inhibited, resulting in the person sweating less.
Botox is also suitable for the treatment of chronic migraines. The injected botulinum toxin relaxes the head, neck and shoulder muscles and also has an anti-inflammatory effect. In many cases, Botox injections therefore help to significantly alleviate symptoms and reduce the risk of further migraine attacks.
Botox also often has a positive effect in the treatment of persistent teeth grinding (bruxism). In this case, the botulinum toxin is injected into the chewing muscle to relieve muscle tension, reduce pain and alleviate grinding.
Botox is also used in neurology, particularly for the treatment of movement disorders, muscle tremors or cramps.
Before the Botox treatment, Dr. Nichlos will conduct a detailed personal consultation with you. Tell him which wrinkles or fine lines particularly bother you and which visual changes you would like to see.
Dr. Nichlos will ask you about your medical history and current situation to determine whether there are any reasons why you should not undergo Botox treatment. For example, treatment with Botox is not possible in the case of certain neuromuscular diseases, allergies or during pregnancy.
If all requirements are met, Dr. Nichlos will explain the effects of Botox, the treatment procedure and the results you can expect from wrinkle injections. He will also explain the possible risks of injections and what you should look out for before and after the treatment. Please refrain from sunbathing and peeling your face before your appointment.
Wrinkle injections with Botox are carried out on an outpatient basis in our practice in Frankfurt. Anesthesia is not usually required for this. However, local anesthesia of the treatment area using anesthetic cream is of course possible on request.
After the treatment site has been cleaned and disinfected, a precisely defined dose of Botox is injected into the wrinkles using the finest needles. The duration of treatment varies depending on the type and depth of the wrinkles. Experience has shown that injecting the wrinkles takes between 10 and 20 minutes.
You can leave our practice in Frankfurt immediately after the treatment and are generally able to return to social life straight away. Please note our instructions and behavioral tips following the wrinkle treatment.
No special aftercare is required. However, you should remain as upright as possible for the first 3 hours after the injection (do not lie down). We recommend that you take it easy on the day of the treatment and possibly also the following day and avoid physically strenuous activities and sport.
Avoid swimming pools and saunas for the next few days and protect the skin from direct sunlight. In the first 1-2 weeks after treatment with botulinum toxin, you should not have any cosmetic facial treatments and please do not massage your face. If necessary, a follow-up appointment can be arranged with Dr. Nichlos.
Professional Botox treatment is generally considered to be very low-risk. There may be slight redness, bruising and/or swelling at the injection sites. A slight burning pain in the treated area is also possible. These are normal reactions to the injection and are only temporary. They usually subside on their own after a short time.
Great care should be taken when dosing botulinum toxin. Too high a dose can cause dry mouth and swallowing disorders as well as headaches and nausea and affect facial features or facial expressions. This makes it all the more important to only have a Botox treatment carried out by an experienced expert and specialist in plastic surgery such as Dr. Nichlos.
The cost of a Botox treatment depends on various factors, particularly the treatment area and the amount of the active ingredient required. Botox is administered on an individual basis, as each person’s facial muscles are different and therefore require varying amounts of botulinum toxin.
At our practice, the cost of a Botox treatment typically starts at:
The final price depends on the specific treatment goal, the number of areas treated, and the amount of active ingredient required. During a personal consultation, Dr. Nichlos will create a customized treatment plan and provide you with transparent information about the expected costs.
The cost of a Botox treatment consists of several medical services. These typically include:
The treatment is performed on an outpatient basis at our practice and usually takes only a few minutes.
Since Botox treatments have relatively low costs and are performed on an outpatient basis, financing is not necessary in most cases.
However, if multiple treatments or combined aesthetic treatments are planned, financing through an external financing partner may be possible on a case-by-case basis.
We would be happy to inform you about the options during a personal consultation and create an individual treatment plan.
Botulinum toxin specifically blocks the nerve impulses in the treated muscles. This relaxes the affected areas of the face, which can significantly reduce wrinkles such as frown lines, forehead wrinkles and crow’s feet. The skin looks smoother and fresher without appearing unnatural.
Botox is particularly suitable for the upper half of the face – including the forehead, frown lines, eye area and eyebrows. Medical applications such as the treatment of migraines, teeth grinding (bruxism) or excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis) are also possible.
The effect usually occurs within 3 to 5 days, the full result is visible after around 10 to 14 days. The muscles become increasingly relaxed, smoothing out the treated wrinkles.
Botox is one of the best-studied active ingredients in aesthetic medicine. Side effects such as redness, minor bruising or mild headaches are rare and usually temporary. When used correctly by experienced specialists such as Dr. Nichlos, the treatment is very well tolerated.
Yes, the aim of a professional Botox treatment is not complete immobility, but a subtle smoothing of the facial features while preserving natural facial expressions. In Dr. Nichlos’ practice, particular emphasis is placed on achieving a harmonious result.
Botox can be used even before wrinkles are permanently visible. Many patients use it from their mid to late 20s for targeted prevention – for example, if they have very pronounced facial expressions or a genetic predisposition to forehead or frown lines.
If used correctly, it is safe to repeat the treatment every 3 to 6 months. Long-term experience shows no adverse health effects with regular use over several years.
Physically strenuous activities and sport should be avoided for at least 24 hours. You should also refrain from lying down, massaging or pressing hard on the treated areas immediately after the injection.
Yes, many patients combine Botox with hyaluronic fillers to compensate for volume loss and smooth wrinkles at the same time. Treatments such as skin boosters or microneedling can also be combined well with Botox – tailored to your personal goals.
Treatment with Botox is not recommended during pregnancy and breastfeeding or in the case of certain neurological conditions. Treatment should also be postponed in the case of existing infections or skin inflammation in the treatment area.
