Bullhorn lift
Age is often first noticeable on the face. Drooping eyebrows are particularly unpleasant, as their shape and position are largely responsible for your facial expression and influence how you are perceived by others. If the eyebrows droop due to age-related sagging of the skin and muscles around the eye area and on the forehead, the face can appear older than it actually is. Or it can make you look tired or even grumpy, even though neither is the case. Cosmetics alone can usually do nothing here.
An eyebrow lift (also known as an eyebrow lift or brow lift) can raise sagging eyebrows, define facial features more clearly and visually enlarge the eyes. Various methods are used depending on requirements. In addition to the classic surgical eyebrow lift, Dr. Nichlos also offers minimally invasive methods such as Botox injections. The best way to find out which treatment is best for you is during a no-obligation consultation at our practice in Frankfurt.
The eyebrow lift is a relatively minor procedure, but when performed by an experienced expert, it can have a major effect. The aim is to lift and rejuvenate the eye area. Various surgical and minimally invasive methods are available for this purpose. What they all have in common is that the eyebrows are lifted in one way or another, making the eyes look more alert and the face appear more open and younger overall.
Various methods are available for eyebrow lifting. These can be roughly divided into surgical and chemical methods. With a surgical eyebrow lift, the desired effect is achieved through a surgical procedure. There are various options available for this type of lift:
The classic lift is a surgical procedure in which Dr. Nichlos makes a small incision at the upper edge of the eyebrow or hairline and removes a narrow strip of skin. He then sutures the edges back together so that the skin is tightened and the brows are pulled slightly upwards.
A temporal lift (also known as a temple lift) is a combination of an eyebrow and forehead lift. The age-related lowered part of the eyebrow is pulled upwards and outwards and the forehead wrinkles are reduced; if necessary, the eye area is also tightened. The temple lift can be performed under local anesthesia and twilight sleep or under general anesthesia.
A minimally invasive variant is the so-called internal browpexy, which is performed as part of an upper eyelid lift. The eyebrow is lifted and stabilized through the incision made during the upper eyelid lift. Local anesthesia is usually sufficient for this treatment as well.
Another way to visually rejuvenate the area around the eyes is a chemical brow lift with botulinum toxin (trade name: Botox). Here, Dr. Nichlos injects a small amount of botulinum toxin into the area around the eyebrows. The muscle relaxant relaxes the muscles that otherwise pull the eyebrows downwards in an unflattering way due to their tension.
In most cases, our practice receives requests for an eyebrow lift for aesthetic reasons. Many of our patients want to have their (congenital or age-related) drooping eyebrows corrected, as these give their face a tired, serious or even sad expression. In some cases, an eyebrow lift is intended to correct a different brow position on the left and right side of the face or to balance out a disharmony (brows, eyelids, forehead).
Sometimes people come to us whose field of vision is restricted by sunken eyebrows. This is due to the weight of the eyebrows pushing the upper eyelids downwards.
Before the brow lift can be performed, a consultation with Dr. Nichlos is required. In addition to a thorough medical history, he will examine and analyze your brow shape, skin condition and muscle activity in this area and suggest the appropriate treatment method for your eyebrow lift.
During the consultation, he will describe the procedure, explain what you should look out for before and after the operation and what results you can expect. Of course, he will also discuss possible risks and side effects and will be available to answer any questions you may have about the procedure.
A brow lift is usually performed under local anesthesia. As soon as this takes effect, the treatment can begin. The procedure varies depending on the chosen treatment method.
In a classic eyebrow lift, Dr. Nichlos makes the necessary incisions at the edge of the eyebrow (or at the hairline in the case of very fine brows) to remove a skin spindle with excess tissue. The remaining skin is then tightened to lift the brows.
In a Brow Lift with Botox, Dr. Nichlos injects a precisely defined dose of botulinum toxin into specific points in the muscles around the eyebrows.
Allow yourself some rest after the lift and carefully cool the treated area. Keep your head as upright as possible and sleep with your head and upper body elevated for the first few days, preferably on your back or side. Avoid physical exertion for 1-2 weeks and protect the eye area from direct sunlight.
The eyebrow lift is considered a low-risk treatment if it is performed by an experienced doctor and specialist such as Dr. Nichlos. Depending on the method, there are different risks, which the specialist will inform you about during the consultation. In the case of a classic lift, these include general surgical and anesthetic risks (in the case of general anesthesia).
In general, slight redness, bruising and swelling may occur after a browlift, but these usually subside in the following days. Temporary slight pain and/or numbness after the procedure is also possible.
Yes, lifting the eyebrows makes the eyes look more alert and the face fresher overall. Dr. Nichlos takes care to achieve a natural result that preserves your facial expressions and personal radiance.
The procedure is performed under local anesthesia or, if desired, under twilight sleep or general anesthesia. You will not feel any pain during the treatment. After the operation, there may be a slight feeling of pressure or pulling, but this can be easily treated with painkillers.
Depending on the initial findings and desired goal, various techniques are available: classic direct eyebrow lift, temporal lift (temple lift), internal brow lift (usually combined with an upper eyelid lift), gliding brow lift or minimally invasive treatments with Botox.
A surgical lift usually lasts for several years. The durability depends on skin quality, age and lifestyle. Results from Botox are temporary and last about 4-6 months.
Swelling or redness may occur after surgery, which usually subsides within 7-10 days. With a Botox browlift, you are usually ready to go again immediately.
The incision is made in inconspicuous areas, e.g. along the hairline or the upper eyebrow line. With the right aftercare, scars fade over time and are barely visible later on.
The brow lift is suitable for sunken or asymmetrical eyebrows, tired facial expressions or severe sagging of the skin in the forehead/eye area. An individual consultation with Dr. Nichlos will clarify whether a lift makes sense in your case.
Yes, the eyebrow lift can be combined with an upper eyelid lift, a facelift or minimally invasive procedures, for example. In this way, a holistically rejuvenated appearance can be achieved.
As with any surgical procedure, there are general surgical risks. Dr. Nichlos will provide you with comprehensive information about possible side effects and complications in advance.
You should refrain from sport for around 3 weeks after a surgical lift. In the case of Botox treatment, light physical activity is possible again the following day.
As this is generally an aesthetic procedure, health insurance companies do not cover the costs. In addition, Dr. Nichlos is not licensed by health insurance companies.
The costs start at 250 euros for a Botox brow lift. For surgical procedures such as a direct lift or temporal lift, the costs are as follows from 2,900 euros, plus anesthesia and clinic .
