Remove double chin
There comes a time when, despite careful care, your own reflection no longer quite matches how you feel inside. This is due to natural signs of ageing that cause the skin and tissue to sag and the contours to blur. Many patients then have a growing desire for change. However, many people shy away from a facelift because they have seen the sometimes mask-like results of celebrities in the media.
In modern plastic surgery, however, the skin is no longer pulled to tighten it. Instead, skin and muscle tissue are often repositioned to their original position, which ensures a very natural result. Dr. Nichlos is a specialist in the deep plane lift and prefers to use this sophisticated facelift procedure. With this procedure, the plastic surgeon restores the original firmness of individual facial areas in the midface region, such as the cheeks, chin and jawline, without altering facial expressions.
Make a no-obligation appointment now and let Dr. Nichlos advise you on the possibilities and procedure of facial rejuvenation with the Deep Plane Facelift.
The Deep Plane Facelift is an effective method of visually rejuvenating the face, in which Dr. Nichlos not only corrects the visible effects of natural skin aging, but in a way also treats the causes of skin aging.
In contrast to a classic facelift, in which only the skin (and possibly the tissue immediately beneath it) is tightened, Dr. Nichlos works on deeper layers in a deep plane facelift. This is because the so-called ligaments (also known as retaining ligaments) slacken with increasing age. These ligaments anchor the soft tissues of the face to the bone. Gravity and the age-related slackening of these retaining ligaments cause the tissue to sag downwards over the years.
In the Deep Plane Facelift, Dr. Nichlos carefully loosens the ligaments, lifts the entire tissue including the muscles, fat and skin using a special incision and repositions it in a new – or rather the original – position. The advantage of the deep plane facelift is that all relevant structures are repositioned at the same time. As a result, there is no tension on the skin and the “mask-like” appearance feared by patients is avoided.
The deep plane facelift method is now considered the gold standard in plastic and aesthetic surgery. The procedure – performed by an experienced specialist – is very suitable for women and men who want a comprehensive and lasting rejuvenation of their face, which cannot (or can no longer) be achieved using minimally invasive methods alone.
The deep plane facelift is an excellent way to lift a sagging midface due to age-related volume loss and tighten so-called “sagging cheeks”. This facelift operation can also be used to smooth pronounced nasolabial folds, contour the jawline (jawline) and define the neck contour, which has become blurred due to increasing sagging of the neck.
Most of our patients who opt for a deep plane facelift are between 40 and 60+ years old. However, there is no fixed age limit. The decisive factor is always the individual initial condition of your skin and your personal feelings. It is best to seek advice from Dr. Nichlos without obligation. The specialist in plastic and aesthetic surgery knows which method is best suited to fulfill your wishes for facial rejuvenation.
Before every procedure, you will have a detailed consultation with Dr. Nichlos in our practice in Frankfurt am Main. You will discuss your wishes and ideas in a relaxed atmosphere. At the same time, Dr. Nichlos will analyze your unique facial anatomy and the condition of your skin. Based on these findings, he will then draw up an individual treatment plan.
The procedure itself takes place under general anesthesia – either at the Berger Clinic in Frankfurt or at the Welfenhof Private Clinic in Wiesbaden – and usually takes 3 to 5 hours. After the anaesthetic has been administered, Dr. Nichlos first makes the incisions at the previously marked points. These are located in inconspicuous areas such as the hairline of the temples or directly in front of or behind the ears. In these areas, the fine scars are barely visible later on.
In the next step, the deep tissue layer is detached from the fixing ligaments using special instruments, mobilized and carefully repositioned. If you wish, an additional neck lift can be performed to achieve a harmonious overall result. Finally, Dr. Nichlos sutures the surgical wounds without tension.
After the operation, you will usually stay in the clinic for one night for monitoring. To ensure a full recovery and good healing of the scars, you should take it easy physically in the first few days after your discharge and avoid any exertion such as heavy lifting.
Slight discomfort such as swelling and bruising are quite normal in the first two to three weeks after the procedure. However, you can alleviate these by cooling (always with a cloth in between!). Very important: Avoid intense sunlight for the first two months and attend your follow-up appointments.
If healing proceeds without complications, you can go back to work and participate in social life around two to three weeks after the facelift.
As with any surgical procedure, there are certain risks associated with a deep plane facelift.
Possible risks are
Thanks to the strict hygiene standards and the expertise and experience of Dr. Nichlos, the aforementioned risks can be reduced to a minimum, but never completely ruled out.
This also applies to redness, swelling and bruising/hematomas, which can occur after a deep plane lift and usually subside on their own after some time. Of course, Dr. Nichlos will inform you in advance about all possible risks and side effects and provide you with information on how you should behave before and after the operation in order to support healing and the result in the best possible way. If you have any questions or concerns, you can contact the doctor at any time.
No, that is also the advantage of the deep plane technique. By repositioning the tissue as a whole, it is not necessary to exert much tension on the skin. As a result, your natural facial expressions are preserved and your face does not look “distorted” or even mask-like. In other words, you don’t look “different”, but like a fresher and naturally rejuvenated version of yourself.
Compared to other methods, the result of a deep plane facelift lasts much longer. This is due to the completely different approach: In minimally invasive treatments, the structures are filled or muscle activity is slowed down, whereas in a deep plane facelift they are repositioned themselves.
In concrete terms, this means that the facial structures are returned to the position they were in around 10-15 years ago. Although the procedure does not stop the natural ageing process, it does set it back so that the rejuvenated result can last for several years with a healthy lifestyle and good skin care.
In principle, every incision leaves a scar, regardless of the surgical technique. However, Dr. Nichlos always makes the incisions in the most inconspicuous places possible, in this case on the hairline or hairline and in the natural skin folds of the ear. After complete healing, the lines are barely visible to the naked eye.
In fact, this is often useful in order to achieve a harmonious overall result. The combination with an eyebrow or eyelid lift and/or a neck lift is particularly suitable. Lip volume enhancement, autologous fat transfer (lipofilling) or a nano-fat treatment can also contribute to a harmonious overall result. Let Dr. Nichlos advise you personally. The facial surgery expert will create a treatment concept for you that is precisely tailored to your wishes and needs.
Most patients report a temporary feeling of tension instead of pain. The initial wound pain that often occurs after a surgical procedure can usually be treated well with commercially available painkillers until it subsides.
The cost of a deep plane facelift can vary considerably and depends on various factors. Due to the greater complexity of the procedure, they are higher than for a conventional facelift. Dr. Nichlos will be able to tell you exactly how much after a personal consultation and a thorough medical history. You will of course receive a cost estimate after your appointment.
Yes, provided you are creditworthy, you have the option of paying the costs of the operation in installments. You will receive more information on this in a personal consultation with Dr. Nichlos.
This cannot be said in general terms and depends heavily on your individual starting situation. Dr. Nichlos will be happy to explain the differences between facelift techniques to you and advise you on which type of rejuvenation is the best solution for your face.
