During the appointment, the specialist in plastic and aesthetic surgery will carry out a preliminary examination. The subsequent consultation is about finding the most suitable procedures and treatments for you and checking whether the requirements for a mommy makeover are met. These include completed family planning, a stable body weight and realistic expectations of the result. For your Mommy Makeover, come to the Berger Clinic in Frankfurt. We often perform several procedures in one session, but staggered treatment over several appointments is also possible. Depending on the type and extent of the procedure, a clinic stay of 1-3 days is advisable.

The procedure is usually performed under general anesthesia and takes 3-5 hours on average. The exact procedure varies depending on which procedures (e.g. tummy tuck, breast surgery, intimate surgery) are to be performed in which areas of the body and which techniques are to be used. Of course, you will receive detailed information on this in the individual consultation and preparatory discussions with Dr. Nichlos.

After the procedure, you should allow yourself at least 1-2 weeks to recover and take it easy physically. Please take this into account in your planning and it is best to organize help with childcare during this time. You will usually be able to socialize again afterwards, but you should make sure you have good aftercare.

The healing phase and specific aftercare depends on the type of procedure. As a rule, you will need to wear compression garments (e.g. a compression girdle or a compression bra/support bra) for the first 4-8 weeks. The compression garment supports healing and stabilizes the result. Additional lymphatic drainage may be advisable. Avoid physical exertion, sport and heavy lifting or carrying during this time.

As with any surgical procedure under general anesthesia, there are general surgical and anesthetic risks with a mommy makeover. These include post-operative bleeding, wound healing disorders and infections. However, these complications during the healing process are very rare if the procedure is carried out professionally and in accordance with strict hygiene standards.

In rare cases, there may be (temporary) sensory disturbances in the chest or abdomen. Bruising and swelling are more common in the surgical area, but these are also usually only temporary and will soon subside.
