Labia augmentation Frankfurt: Increase the volume of the labia minora for more well-being!
The intimate area plays an important role in the well-being of many women. The area around the labia minora is a particular focus, as it is important for both the aesthetic appearance and the natural protection of the vulva. If there is a significant loss of volume here, for example during the menopause, after weight loss or for genetic reasons, this can affect the aesthetics of the intimate area and cause problems such as infections and painful inflammation.
With labia augmentation, Dr. Nichlos can rebuild this missing or lost volume, giving your intimate area a firmer appearance and restoring the protective function of the labia. Depending on the findings, the specialist in plastic and aesthetic surgery can also perform a labia minora reduction to achieve a harmonious overall result that makes you feel comfortable and self-confident.

Introduction
What is labia augmentation?
Labia augmentation (also known as labia augmentation) is an intimate surgery procedure. Its purpose is to fill in labia minora (labia majora) that are naturally too small or sagging for other reasons (e.g. weight loss or hormonal changes with age) by inserting autologous fat (lipofilling) or a filler such as hyaluronic acid to give you more volume again.
What are the reasons for labia augmentation?
The majority of procedures are performed for aesthetic reasons. Many women who visit our practice seeking labiaplasty are dissatisfied with the appearance of their genital area and therefore feel uncomfortable. In most patients, the labia have lost volume due to hormonal influences, severe weight loss or the natural ageing process, making them look sunken and wrinkled, which disturbs women’s aesthetic perception.
In some patients, however, the loss of volume in the labia also leads to physical discomfort as they can no longer fulfill their natural protective function. Normally, the labia minora cover the labia minora, the urethral opening and the vaginal entrance to protect them from external irritation. This is not fully possible if the labia minora are too small, which can lead to pain and inflammation that can affect your well-being and self-confidence.
Methods
What methods of labia augmentation are used in intimate surgery?
We have two procedures available for augmenting the labia minora: lipofilling (autologous fat method) and hyaluronic acid injections. Which of these is used for intimate surgery depends, among other things, on your desired result.
Labia augmentation with autologous fat
The augmentation of the labia with autologous fat allows Dr. Nichlos to achieve a very natural and long-lasting result and to give the genital area a harmonious shape with clear contours. The procedure is performed in two steps: In the first step, the specialist removes small amounts of fat from another area of the body (e.g. hips or thighs) using liposuction (liposuction). This fat is medically processed and then injected into the labia minora using very fine cannulas.
Labia augmentation with hyaluronic acid
Increasing the volume of the labia minora with hyaluronic acid is less time-consuming and cost-intensive. Dr. Nichlos injects small amounts of hyaluronic acid under the skin during outpatient injections. This allows him to sculpt the labia in a targeted manner and give the pubic area an aesthetic appearance. As the hyaluronic acid is broken down by the body after around 6 to 18 months, a new injection is necessary.

Preparation
What happens before labia augmentation?
Before the procedure, we invite you to a personal consultation at our practice in Frankfurt. Here you can talk to Dr. Nichlos about the reasons for your desire for a labiaplasty and ask questions in a discreet one-on-one consultation.
An important part of the consultation is the physical examination so that the specialist can get an idea of the area to be treated and present you with the appropriate treatment options. He will then explain the exact procedure to you, what to look out for before and after the procedure and what risks and possible complications are associated with labia majora augmentation.
If you decide to undergo labiaplasty, Dr. Nichlos will make an appointment for the operation or, in the case of filler injections, for the outpatient procedure. Dr. Nichlos performs the operations in the modern operating theatres at the Berger Klinik in Frankfurt, where you will be welcomed by a friendly team and will be in the best of hands from the very first minute.
Procedure
Labia augmentation: How does the procedure work?
The injection of hyaluronic acid into the labia takes about 20 to 30 minutes and is performed by Dr. Nichlos on an outpatient basis in his practice in Frankfurt. Before injecting the filler, we thoroughly disinfect the area and, if necessary, apply a local anesthetic cream so that you hardly feel the punctures. Dr. Nichlos then begins to inject the hyaluronic acid and sculpt the labia into the desired shape. You can leave the practice immediately after the procedure and are ready for social life again straight away.
Dr. Nichlos performs labiaplasty under general anaesthetic and with a short inpatient stay (usually one night). The actual procedure takes between 60 and 80 minutes. As soon as the areas to be treated have been disinfected and the anaesthetist has induced anaesthesia, the specialist begins to make fine incisions in the skin and inject a tumescent solution into the liposuction sites. This has an anesthetic effect and also helps to loosen the fat cells.
Dr. Nichlos then aspirates the loosened fat and has it cleaned. He then injects the purified fat into the tissue of the labia using very fine cannulas, sculpting them so that they form an aesthetic unit with the mons pubis. Finally, he treats the skin incisions with staple plasters. This means that subsequent stitches are not required.

Aftercare
What happens after labia augmentation?
In the first few days after the procedure on your labia, you should take it easy and avoid physically strenuous activities. Swelling and slight pain are normal after both hyaluronic acid injections and labia augmentation with autologous fat and usually subside within 1 to 2 weeks.
You can treat mild pain yourself with over-the-counter painkillers. Careful cooling helps against swelling. You can shower the very next day, but you should avoid full baths for about two weeks (in the case of lipofilling).
Depending on the type of procedure, it can take several weeks to months before the final result of labia augmentation can be seen. When fat cells are implanted, for example, it takes time for them to grow in completely and solidify. Dr. Nichlos will be happy to explain this to you in more detail during your consultation.
Risks
What are the risks associated with labia augmentation?
Labia augmentation is a relatively common procedure in intimate surgery and is low-risk if performed correctly and in compliance with strict hygiene and safety measures. Nevertheless, as with any surgical procedure, certain risks can never be 100% ruled out. These include, above all, the general risk of anesthesia and infection.
In addition, circulatory and wound healing disorders or scarring in the liposuction area may occur after the procedure. In very rare cases, embolisms (so-called fat embolisms) can occur when injecting autologous fat. However, the risk of this can be kept very low by the surgeon’s high level of expertise.

More InformationFrequently asked questions about
labia augmentation:
- What is labia augmentation?
In labia augmentation, the labia minora are plumped up with autologous fat or hyaluronic acid filler to achieve volume, symmetry and a more harmonious intimate aesthetic.
- Who is suitable for labia augmentation?
It is suitable for patients whose labia minora have lost volume due to age, genetics or weight loss, or who want more protection and fullness in the genital area.
- Which method is better - autologous fat or hyaluronic acid?
Autologous fat offers a natural, permanent solution. Hyaluronic filler is well tolerated, but is broken down by the body over time and must be retreated regularly.
- How does labia augmentation with autologous fat work?
First, autologous fat is harvested from another part of the body, processed and then injected into the labia minora – usually on an outpatient basis and under local anesthesia.
- Is treatment with hyaluronic acid painful?
Thanks to fine cannulas and local anesthesia, treatment with hyaluronic acid is generally well tolerated. Slight swelling or feelings of tension subside within a few days.
- How long do the results of labia augmentation last?
With hyaluronic acid, around 6 to 12 months, depending on the individual metabolism. Autologous fat offers a long-lasting result, as a large proportion of the transplanted fat remains in place in the long term.
- Does the sensitivity in the genital area change after the procedure?
Slight short-term changes in sensitivity may occur, which usually subside after a few days. Sexual sensitivity usually remains completely intact.
- When can I do sports again?
Light sporting activities are possible after 3-4 weeks. Horse riding, cycling or other sports with direct intimate contact should be avoided for at least 6 weeks.
- When is sexual intercourse possible again after the procedure?
As soon as healing is complete – usually after around 4 to 6 weeks – sexual intercourse is possible again. This will be discussed individually as part of the aftercare.
- Are there any risks or side effects?
As with any treatment, temporary swelling, bruising or feelings of pressure may occur. Serious complications are very rare if the procedure is carried out correctly.
- Is a combination with other procedures possible?
Yes, labia augmentation can be combined with labia reduction, vaginal tightening or mons pubis correction, for example – depending on the desired overall result.
- How much does labia augmentation cost in Frankfurt?
The costs start at 450 euros for hyaluronic acid and from 2,000 euros for autologous fat, plus anesthesia and clinic. Dr. Nichlos will inform you individually during your consultation.
